This Saturday, the long weekend was put to great use with SUMBA performing at the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show! Amidst the very well-groomed horses, hefty cattle, and numerous (not-good-for-the-health-but-good-for-the-heart) food options, the SUMBA contingent braved the sun and livestock-familiar concrete to play some music.

Although we were slightly reduced in performer numbers compared to previous years, the sweet sweet sounds of some SUMBA classics including Oye Como Va, El Cumbanchero, YMCA, and Sweet Caroline drew a crowd of small children and not-so-small adults alike. To spice things up a bit some new repertoire, including a rendition of Aguilera’s ‘Ain’t no Other Man’, made an appearance as well! And SUMBA’s day didn’t just end there! Of course, there was also cake decorating to see, little pigs to ‘nawww’ at, and, most importantly, woodchopping to go watch.

We must give massive thanks to the Agricultural Society of NSW for inviting us back to the event each year, and an (also massive) thanks to all the instrumentalists who came along, long-time SUMBA members and fresh faces alike! 🙂
